—Just a Song
On a wholly unrelated note, the album shares the same name as a great Wong Kar-wai film, Days of Being Wild. The film subtitles are little wonky, so here’s my own translation of a favorite scene below.
"What’s the date today?"
"The 16th…April 16th. On April 16th, 1960, one minute before three o’clock, you and I were together. I’m going to remember that minute because of you. From now on we’ve been friends for exactly a minute. That’s a reality you can’t change — it has passed. I’ll be back tomorrow."
"Whether he actually remembered that minute because of me, I don’t know. But I always remembered him — and he did end up coming everyday, and from one-minute friends, we became two-minute friends, and soon after, we saw each other at least an hour a day."
